Just a 15-minute drive from downtown Verona, Madison offers a plethora of activities for you and your family to enjoy. You can tour the state capitol, visit the children's museum, take a stroll or bike ride along the shore of Lake Mendota, explore the gardens at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, visit Vilas zoo, and much more!
An hour north of Verona, you'll find America's playground, The Wisconsin Dells! Along with the water parks, theme parks, mini-golf and an old-fashioned downtown, you can find beautiful scenery, boat rides, hiking and horse-drawn carriage rides.
Paoli is just a short five- to 10-minute drive southwest of Verona. Filled with small shops specializing in art, restoration antiques, and garden knick-nacks. Nestled along a small creek, Paoli is a charming place to visit.
One of Wisconsin's most notorious destinations and just an hour or so west of Verona, you'll want to save 3-5 hours to tour this attraction. The House on the Rock offers 3 seperate tours which you can choose to do one at a time, or consecutively. Be warned, some people might find this attraction to be a little scary and disturbing! Vast collections of dolls, ancient robotic music machines, a giant merry-go-round (no, you can't ride it), an enormous room of organs (the musical kind!), a 4 story tall sculpture of a whale and squid fighting are just some of the things you can expect to find at House on the Rock. Everyone should go at least once!
For rich Norwegian heritage, visit Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, where the trolls play! Whether you're visiting or just biking through, the trolls are waiting to meet you and guide you on an offbeat adventure.
Located in Spring Green is the home of the late Frank Lloyd Wright. Taliesin (tal-ee-EH-sin), built in 1911, has been coined Frank Lloyd Wright's "autobiography in wood and stone," where he spent more than fifty years of his dramatic life and profound career. Reservations are recommended for all tours.
New Glarus is a charming village nestled in the hills of Green County, just half an hour south of Verona. New Glarus also boasts the successful craft brewery New Glarus Brewing Company, where you can participate in beer tastings and tours of the facilities.
Wollersheim Winery sits on a scenic hillside across the Wisconsin River from Prairie du Sac. European vintners planted grapevines and built limestone buildings on this National Historic Site over 150 years ago. A leader in the Midwest's wine industry, Wollersheim is home to a 27-acre vineyard of French-American hybrid grapes and produces around 240,000 gallons of wine each year. The winery's accolades include Winery of the Year 2012 and Wine of the Year 2013 at consecutive San Diego International Wine COmpetitions, and inclusion in TripAdvisor's 2013 list of the top ten winery tours in the nation. Wollersheim WInery is open for tours and tastings from 10 am to 5 pm daily, year-round and also hosts public events.
